Welcome to the QV Tree Tenders!

Rooted in Community, Growing a Greener Future for Queen Village.

Queen Village Tree Tenders is a volunteer-led group dedicated to planting, caring for, and advocating for trees in the Queen Village neighborhood of Philadelphia. As part of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s (PHS) Tree Tenders program, we work to expand the urban tree canopy and improve the health and beauty of our community.

What We Do

  • Tree Planting Events: We organize bi-annual tree planting days in collaboration with PHS and local residents.

  • Tree Care & Maintenance: Volunteers help water, mulch, and prune young trees to ensure their long-term health.

  • Community Education: We offer workshops and resources on the benefits of urban trees and how to care for them.

  • Neighborhood Engagement: We work with residents, schools, and businesses to promote green spaces and sustainability.

Why Trees Matter

  • Increase property values by enhancing beauty and neighborhood character.

  • Save energy by providing shade and cooling streets by up to 9°F.

  • Improve air and water quality by filtering pollutants.

  • Reduce noise pollution by acting as natural sound buffers.

  • Provide habitat for birds and other wildlife.

  • Enhance community well-being by adding green spaces that make neighborhoods more livable and inviting.
