Open Streets: Midtown Village Frequently Asked Questions

When is Open Streets: Queen Village?
Four consecutive Saturdays in September and October, beginning Sept 27 - Oct 18. The event will begin at 11am through 5pm, but street closures will go into effect by 8am and open back up by 6pm.

What is the route for Open Streets: Queen Village?
4th Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from South to Catharine. Cross traffic will be permitted as usual at Bainbridge (east and westbound), Monroe, and Fitzwater. Barriers will be in place at Kater and 4th, Pemberton and 4th, and Fulton and 4th.

Is there a fee to attend?
No, these events are free to attend.

Are there rain dates?
These events are rain or shine. Queen Village Neighbors Association reserves the right to cancel at any time in the event of severe weather. Guests should reference social media and the website for up-to-date information regarding weather. 

Are these events open to all ages?
All ages are invited and welcome to enjoy Open Streets: Queen Village. A family-friendly zone will be designated each week. 

Will there be car parking? 
Car parking will not be provided; however nearby parking garages will be open and available.  

Will restrooms be available?  
Public restrooms will not be available. 

Are bicycles allowed? 
Queen Village Neighbors Association requests all cyclists to walk their bikes in the boundaries of the event.

Are these events wheelchair accessible?
Yes, these events are wheelchair accessible.  

Will food and drinks be sold on the street?
No. There will not be supplemental food or beverage vendors on the street. Open containers of alcohol will not be sold and are strictly prohibited. All food and beverage sales will take place at restaurants located within the boundaries of the event. Take-out food will be sold at the discretion of each restaurant. 

Will there be entertainment? 
Yes, ambient entertainment will be provided weekly. 

How is this different than a street festival or block party?
Open Streets: Queen Village is an extension of public space for pedestrians. Unlike a street festival, there will be no supplemental food, beverage or merchandise vendors on the street. Guests are encouraged to support the businesses located along the route and surrounding neighborhoods. There will be no main performance stages.

How will this impact drivers in Center City?
Drivers may be temporarily rerouted because of the street closures.

Are there plans to continue this series?
At this time, Open Streets: Queen Village is only scheduled for Saturdays in September/October beginning September 27 through October 18.

How can my business get involved?
Businesses must be located along the designated route to have a presence during Open Streets: Midtown Village. However, surrounding businesses are free to offer special incentives, sales or in-store happenings on the same days as Open Streets: Queen Village. What SEPTA buses will be rerouted? 
The 57 bus (running southbound) will be temporarily rerouted on Saturdays, going east on South Street, south on 2nd Street, west on Christian Street, and south on 4th Street.
