Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day

Nebinger Elementary is organizing its first participation in Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day in partnership with Safe Routes Philly! Civil rights activist Ruby Bridges was just six years old when she became the first Black student to integrate an all-white elementary school in New Orleans in 1960. Her courage continues to inspire us to take steps toward justice, kindness, and equity. We will walk to school as a community and reflect on Ruby’s story together.   

Participants will meet at the parking lot of Courtyard Apartments at Riverview (1021 S. 4th St.), where they will then walk to Nebinger via 4th Street, Christian Street, and 6th Street. Learn more here!
