About QVNA

The Queen Village Neighbors Association (QVNA) was founded on November 3, 1969, to serve the

residents of Queen Village and strengthen the community. QVNA offers programs and services to

improve Queen Village and serves as the resident liaison with City officials and elected representatives.


Overview

The Courtyard Resident Council and QVNA are seeking an energetic and experienced summer

program director to lead Summer at Courtyard, a free camp for children from the Courtyard housing

development which provides meals, academic tutoring, and fun activities. The ideal candidate will have

a passion for creating engaging and enriching experiences for children, ensuring their safety, and

fostering a positive and inclusive camp environment. As the summer camp director, you will be

responsible for co-creating program planning with QVNA and Courtyard staff and overall execution of

our summer camp activities.


Responsibilities

● Execute a diverse and exciting summer camp program that includes a mix of recreational,

educational, and creative activities, including reading and tutoring help, as well as field trips.

● Create weekly schedules and plan age-appropriate activities for campers aged 6–12.

● Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure the well-being of campers.

● Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety procedures regularly.

● Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding camp activities, updates, and

important information.

● Address and resolve any concerns or issues that may arise during the camp season.

● Respond promptly to camp inquiries and facilitate the camp registration process.

● Work within the allocated budget to plan and execute camp activities, procure necessary

supplies, and manage expenses efficiently.

● Collaborate with other stakeholders at QVNA and Courtyard Residential Council to coordinate

any shared resources, facilities, or activities.

● Foster positive relationships with local community partners to enhance the camp experience.


Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, or a related field (or working toward degree)

● Previous experience as an educator.

● Previous experience in a leadership role at a summer camp or similar program.

● Strong organizational and communication skills.

● CPR and First Aid certification.

● Ability to pass a comprehensive FBI background check and fingerprinting.

● Ability to create a positive and inclusive camp environment.


Schedule and Work Details

● Monday, July 7 through Thursday, August 14

● Monday–Thursday (Fridays off)

● 8:30am–2:30pm
