Oct 21 Community Mtg Video

On October 21st, QVNA convened a community meeting to provide residents with an update on community safety, information about voting in the November 3rd election, an update from City Hall, and the names of candidates running in the QVNA board election.

Guest speakers included Capt. Brian Hartzell, 3rd District; Deputy Commissioner Trina Bodnik; and Councilman Mark Squilla.

Street Closures in Queen Village

Partial and full street closures are happening in Queen Village as the City Streets Department undertakes an aggressive schedule to repair and repave streets throughout the city.

Villagers can find the most up-to-date information on street and sidewalk closures (current and future) by using the City’s interactive tool, found here.  This website is updated every 30 minutes.

Your Participation in The Census is Vital

The 2020 Census counts everyone living in the United States. Your answers to 10 questions will shape the next 10 years of decisions that impact Queen Village, the City of Philadelphia, our state and the rest of our country.

Getting a complete and accurate census count is critically important. That’s why your response is required by law. If you do not respond, the U.S. Census Bureau will follow up in person to collect your response.

Census counts happen every 10 years. Its results inform decisions by elected officials about allocating hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding—for hospitals, fire departments, school lunch programs, plans for highways and other critical programs and services.

Since the Census results in a U.S. population count, it is also used to adjust or redraw electoral districts, based on where populations have increased or decreased. Read more at https://bit.ly/2020Census-Redistricting.

The 2020 Census asks only 10 questions. There is no citizenship question. See for yourself at https://bit.ly/Census-10questions.

The answers you provide are used only to produce statistics. By law, the Census Bureau is not permitted to publicly release your responses in any way that could identify you or anyone else in your home. Read more at https://bit.ly/CensusDataProtection.

Each of us can powerfully and positively impact our next ten years with one single act:  participate in the census.

Please participate in the 2020 Census today at www.2020census.gov.

This important announcement takes place during QVNA’s Holiday Party at Felly Bistro (769 E. Passyunk).

QVNA’s Community Grant Program provides funding to help improve the quality of life of Queen Village residents.  We accept grant requests for a wide range of projects and programs, such as enhancing parks, gardens, playgrounds, clean & green projects, and historic preservation. We also accept grant applications for in-school, after-school, and summer academic and/or learning enrichment programs.

Grant applications are evaluated by the QVNA Grants Committee based on the:

  1. Degree to which the proposed project meets a community need
  2. Clarity of the project description
  3. Budget detail that reflects well-defined needs and reasonable costs
  4. Capacity of applicant organization to complete the project

In past years, QVNA grants have helped to fund projects like the Fulton Street Mural, a joint quality of life signage project with Paradigm Gallery and local street artist Kid Hazo, scholastic endeavors at Meredith and Nebinger Elementary, as well as improvements Southwark Queen Village Community Garden, Mario Lanza Park, Beck Park, Friends of Shot Tower and others.
