Tai Chi at Weccacoe
Every Thursday evening, join your neighbors for Tai Chi classes in the Weccacoe Playground Building. Tai Chi, often referred to as “meditation in motion,” promotes serenity through gentle movements which connects the mind and body. This form of martial arts was originally developed in ancient China for self-defense, but has evolved into a graceful form of exercise used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. All levels welcome.

QVNA Annual Open House and Garden Tour
Mark your calendars now for QVNA’s 34th annual Open House and Garden Tour
Saturday, May 19, noon to 4 p.m.
Visit a fascinating range of houses dating from the 18th century to the twentieth century, traditional to contemporary styles. Also featured on the tour are historic churches and community gardens. A delightful way to explore Queen Village.
Self guided walking tour. Light refreshments provided.

Beautification Committee Meeting
The Beautification Committee is dedicated to cleaning and greening our neighborhood. While we may live in one of Philadelphia’s most attractive neighborhoods, we don’t always treat it that way. The Beautification Committee will explore ways to keep our community cleaner, including organizing clean-up days, putting public trash cans on the street, and running public education campaigns to make sure our neighbors do their part to keep QV clean.
The committee meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month, 7:30 p.m. at the Weccacoe Playground building (400 block of Catharine St–enter at the door that faces the tennis court)

This form of martial arts was originally developed in ancient China for self-defense, but has evolved into a graceful form of exercise used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions.
Tax Re-Assessment Committee meeting
The Tax Re-assessment Committee meets each month on the 4th Wednesday at 7:30.
The Purpose of the committee is to advocate for a fair property tax system for our neighbors with safeguards for low income residents. We welcome any residents who would like to help in this effort.

Arts on South
Arts on South (AoS) is the innovative program that loans unrented retail stores to local groups to showcase their artwork and invigorate the community. Featuring artist collectives and community groups that work in a variety of media including photography, fibers, performance, sculpture, found objects, painting, installation, drawing, and new media, these gallery sites brighten the South Street area with creative energy.
All galleries offer professional exhibitions and public receptions on the Fourth Fridays of each month from 5:00pm – 9:00pm. Managed by Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, in collaboration with the South Street Headhouse District, the current Arts on South participants will occupy four retail spaces from September 15, 2011 through December 15, 2011.
Current Arts on South groups include:

- Dumpster Divers, 604 South Street
- Mighty Writers, 641 South Street
- Community Cultural Exchange, 706 South Street
