Founded in 1984, the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program (MAP) is the largest public art program in the United States.  The Mural Arts Program serves to combat the spread of graffiti by fostering interest in the arts, and invites 300 children each year to participate in the creation of murals throughout the city.  Today, the Mural Arts Program is the city’s largest employer of artists, including 36 former graffiti arts who serve as full-time employees.  Queen Village is home to a number of such murals, including the following four spectacular works featured in this photo essay.
