On December 21, 2006, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board issued a provisional casino (slots) license to the Foxwoods casino, to be built at Columbus Blvd. and Reed Streets. This selection was made despite intensive opposition from all the surrounding communities, elected officials, waterfront advocates, and many others. Having a Casino right next to our neighborhood would be horrible for Queen Village. There are viable locations for Philadelphia casinos that aren't a few blocks from houses, schools and places of worship.
